Preschool Program
“This young life that we are trying to mould needs no forcing and squeezing, no correcting or faultfinding to develop its intelligence and character. Nature looks after children in the same way as she sees that the tadpole grows into a frog when the time is ready. ” ~ Maria Montessori

About the Montessori Primary Program
There are two components to a Montessori classroom: the academic learning, and the social-emotional growth.
In the Primary classroom (ages 2.5-6) children are exposed to a wide variety of subjects, ideas, and perspectives.
There are five core components of the Primary curriculum: Practical Life, Sensorial, Cosmic Studies (geography, culture), Science, Math, and Language. Children explore each area at their own rate and as their interests and abilities grow and change. Children are also taught social skills, called Grace and Courtesy, as part of the Peace curriculum. Art and Music are incorporated into daily classroom routines and help the child connect more deeply to their learning.
Our Classroom
The Preschool classroom is home to up to 23 children with 2 or 3 teachers depending on our enrollment. It's a cozy and colorful space with lots of independent learning, collaboration, exploration, and curiosity.
Children are exposed to a wide variety of subjects, including several languages from around the world.

Programs
The Preschool program is offered full-time at 3, 4, or 5 days a week. Drop off is 8:30-9:00 and pickup is 2:45-3:00.
We have a Storyteller who keeps the tradition of oral recitation alive with well-loved stories accompanied by her magic flute. The children love getting a visit from Nina and growing their imaginations while listening to her stories.
We occasionally do walking field trips and have special guests come in to talk about various subjects, from recycling and compost, to beekeeping, to visits from the local fire department!
Summer
We are open 8:30am - 3:00pm, Monday - Thursday during the summer.
Elementary-aged children who previously attended can return to Montessori Academy for our Summer session!
We spend lots of time outside in the summers learning about weather, finding insects, gardening, and getting muddy. We do regular water days and bike days in the summer!
